Workshop by Young Tinker Academy at Carmel School, Ratanpur
Carmel Convent Sr. Sec. School,  Ratanpur, in collaboration with Young Tinker Academy, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, conducted an enriching and innovative workshop for the students of classes 5th to 12th on 16th October 2023 in the school auditorium. The main aim was to promote skill development in the students and to develop their scientific skills and critical thinking. The resource persons,  Mr. Anil Pradhan, Mrs. Vaishali Sharma and Mr. Abhishek Shukla were welcomed with bouquets by the School Principal, Rev. Sr. Rose Tom and the School Manager, Rev. Sr. Pushpa. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp which was followed by a prayer dance.
In her welcome address, the School Principal Rev. Sr. Rose Tom motivated the students to grab the opportunity and explore various scientific experiments by stimulating their curiosity and honing their analytical skills. She told them to be innovative and 'Think Out of the Box'.
The founder of Young Tinker Academy and recipient of National Youth Award, Government of India, and winner of World Rank 3 at NASA Rover Challenge, Mr. Anil Pradhan is also an alumnus of Carmel Convent School, Ratanpur.
On the occasion, he addressed the students on the topic 'Dreamer to Achiever', and motivated them to strive forward with hardwork and strong determination to achieve their dreams. He told the students about the importance of education and the role of teachers in moulding the young minds.
To enhance skill development and scientific skills, a Tinker Space lab was set up in the school on 14th October in which 12 registered students were introduced to Tinker Space, Space Review, 3-D print and Tool Assembly. The workshop concluded with the presentation of badges to the School Principal Rev Sr Rose Tom and School Manager Rev Sr Pushpa for the initiative taken by the School Management. It was a wonderful and fantastic experience for the young, inquisitive minds.
