PARENTING ORIENTATION
An engaging and insightful orientation on effective parenting was conducted in the school by Dr. Ali A. Husaini, a renowned Assessment Psychologist and CBT-REBT therapist on October 19. Dr. Husaini, who is also associated with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, captivated parents with his extensive knowledge and experience in child and adolescent psychology.
The session focused on the critical role parents play in shaping the cognitive and emotional development of their children. Dr. Husaini emphasized the importance of understanding the various stages of child development, citing the various cognitive growth models and urged parents to adapt their approach according to their children’s evolving needs. He discussed common parenting challenges and provided practical strategies for nurturing positive behaviors, promoting emotional intelligence, and building a strong parent-child bond.
A key highlight of the orientation was Dr. Husaini’s discussion on managing technology use and combating gadget addiction among children, a concern shared by many parents today. He provided insightful tips on how to guide children toward healthier tech habits while encouraging creativity, focus, and outdoor activities.
Parents were particularly moved by his section on positive parenting, which included fostering communication, trust, and emotional resilience in children. His empathetic approach combined with research-based techniques left attendees with a clearer understanding of how to support their children’s holistic development.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where Dr. Husaini addressed individual concerns and provided tailored advice. The event was widely appreciated by parents, who left feeling empowered and equipped with new tools to foster a nurturing home environment.Post orientation, Dr. Hussaini inaugurated the Art Integration Exhibition which in itself showcased a vibrant platform of students’ creativity and interdisciplinary knowledge. The overall event grabbed a diverse attention and appreciation of its audience.
