Honouring the Life and Legacy of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara
St. Chavara Day was celebrated in the school auditorium on 8 January 2026 with great reverence and enthusiasm to honour St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a visionary 19th-century social reformer from Kerala.
The assembly of class VIII A ,began with a warm welcome to the Reverend Sister Principal, teachers, and students. This was followed by a prayer service and a devotional song, invoking God’s blessings on the gathering.
Students then presented a short skit highlighting the life and contributions of St. Chavara. The skit focused on his efforts to promote education for all, irrespective of caste or social status, which led to the establishment of schools for the upliftment of society.
St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805–1871) was a renowned Catholic priest and social reformer. He pioneered inclusive education, encouraged Sanskrit learning, established a printing press, and co-founded the CMI and CMC religious congregations. His dedicated service significantly transformed education and society in 19th-century Kerala. He was canonised in 2014 for his remarkable contributions.
The programme concluded with a message inspiring students to follow the ideals of equality, service, and dedication shown by St. Chavara.
