SEMINAR ON NARCOTICS AND DRUG ABUSE
A seminar on Narcotics and Drug Abuse was conducted by MANAS on 28 November 2025 in the school auditorium to spread awareness about the growing concerns of drug abuse among youth. The session was presented by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bhopal Unit, with Mr. Kuldeep Singh and Mr. Krishna Kumar serving as the resource persons. The programme began with an interactive discussion in which students were asked what drugs are and whether they are useful or harmful. The speakers explained the concept of narcotics, the need for licences, and elaborated on substances such as NDMA (N-Nitrosodimethylamine), cocaine, methamphetamine, LSD blotter paper and ketamine. They highlighted the reasons why individuals fall into drug misuse—such as rejection, anger, poor self-image, stress and curiosity. The progression from experimentation to irregular use, regular consumption and eventual addiction was clearly outlined.
The speakers also emphasised the various effects of drug abuse, including social, legal, economic, psychological and health-related consequences. Specific focus was given to physical symptoms, behavioural changes, diseases, aggression and damage to vital organs such as the heart. The harmful impact of cocaine and other substances was explained through practical examples. Students were sensitised to recognise signs of drug abuse and encouraged to seek help promptly. Video illustrating real-life case was shown to reinforce the message. A brief questioning session followed, allowing students to clarify doubts and gain deeper understanding. The resource persons urged everyone to support the cause and reinforced the message “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.” They also shared the NCB helpline number—1933—for reporting drug-related concerns. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the NCB team and reaffirming the collective resolve that “Together we can bring change.”
